Open-Ended Configurations of Radio Telescopes: Towards Optimal Design

چکیده
The quality of radio astronomical images drastically depends on where we place the radio telescopes. During the design of the Very Large Array, it was empirically shown that the power law design, in which n-th antenna is placed at a distance n from the center, leads to the best image quality. In this paper, we provide a theoretical justiication for this empirical fact.

Design and Analysis of Double-Gate MOSFETs for Ultra-Low Power Radio Frequency Identification (RFID): Device and Circuit Co-Design
Recently, double-gate MOSFETs (DGMOSFETs) have been shown to be more optimal for ultra-low power circuit design due to the improved subthreshold slope and the reduced leakage current compared to bulk CMOS. However, DGMOSFETs for subthreshold circuit design have not been much explored in comparison to those for strong inversion-based design. In this paper, various configurations of DGMOSFETs, su...

The new generation of radio telescopes, such as the Square Kilometer Array (SKA), requires dramatic advances in computer hardware and software, in order to process the large amounts of produced data efficiently. In this document, we explore a new approach to wide-field imaging. By generalizing the image reconstruction, which is performed by an inverse Fourier transform, to arbitrary transformat...
متن کاملThe Optimal MMSE Transceiver Design for IoT-oriented Cognitive Radio Systems
This paper studies interference alignment scheme and minimum mean square error (MMSE) improvement in Internet of Things (IoT)-oriented cognitive systems, where IoT devices share the licensed spectrum by cognitive radio in spectrum underlay. Target to manage the inter-tier interference caused by cognitive spectrum sharing as well as ensure an MMSE at receivers, the interference alignment algorit...

Extremely large telescopes will be constructed in the near future, and new radio telescopes will operate at significantly higher radio frequencies; both features create significantly increased pointing-accuracy requirements that have to be addressed by control system engineers. This article presents control and pointing problems encountered during design, testing, and operation of antennas, rad...
متن کاملUsing Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms for Modelling and Multi-objective Optimal Heat Exchange through a Tube Bank
In this study, by using a multi-objective optimization technique, the optimal design points of forced convective heat transfer in tubular arrangements were predicted upon the size, pitch and geometric configurations of a tube bank. In this way, the main concern of the study is focused on calculating the most favorable geometric characters which may gain to a maximum heat exchange as well as a m...
